Information for presenters

The lecture theatre is equipped with the following audio-visual equipment:

  • Data Projector
  • Screen
  • Laptop with Microsoft Office 2010
  • Remote mouse/laser pointer
  • Lectern and microphone
  • Lapel and/or hand-held radio microphones

Wolfson College strongly recommends that speakers utilise the in-house laptop, which is pre-set for optimal functioning with the coordinating equipment. It is also highly beneficial if presentations are sent in advance – via email attachment, online link, etc. - for testing and pre-loading. If this is not possible, it is advisable to bring the presentations on USB memory stick or CDr, even if also bringing own laptops.

To optimise compatibility, particularly for the inclusion of multimedia components, speakers should include the original files so that it can be re-embedded if necessary.

Mac users should ensure that they bring the correct connection cable (VGA) with them. If using a memory stick, it must be formatted as either “FAT32” or “FAT16” in order for it to be read by the college'sPC laptops.

The lecture theatre is reasonably large, so speakers should use a minimum 16-point font size in PowerPoint slides to ensure legibility. Presenters are asked to prepare their talks to match the allocated times which will be rigidly enforced.
